HE HAIR DIVIDE AND OTHER POEMS like Green Doctrine of 2016 is from the Uhuru Poetry Collection of the author. A pack of poetic tales which reading, you reminisce as an old man way back in 1983, and feel the pinch of the plastic doll in the streets of Bamenda, or witness how bread is life in Kribi where the sea farer or a prisoner on the street is stroke with a flame of desire, in spite of AIDS all over! Each of the forty-six poems of the collection tells its own story, of anger, anguish, mystery, love and laughter, be it from the vantage point of Buea, Akwaya, Yaounde, Dar es salam, Calabar, Luanda-Angola, Hoedspruit-South Africa or of Balikumbat-Cameroon.
The collection, in its variety, instils reflection, offers entertainment, imparts education and inspires, building a bond with readers across the globe. A bond which even the hair can’t divide!Liyong Emmanuel Sama is a social entrepreneur and conservationist, born in 1962 in Balikumbat, living and working in Bamenda, Cameroon. He served inthe Cameroon civil service from 1982 to 2012, from game ranger to protected area conservator, and game ranger trainer with experiences in Cameroon and Nigeria. He holds a Master’s degree and several diplomas in conservation studies.In 2010 he founded CIRMAD, a not-for-profit for conservation and civil society work, with which he has been involved in field conservation work in several sites in the Bamenda Highlands. Liyong is a practicing Christian and a titled prince (Sam-yidt) of the Balikumbat royalty. He initiated and currently leads the development of the literacy of Mubako, his mother tongue, maturing as a Bible translator and literacy teacher in it, and already crafting some Mubako poems. He is a registered film producer and actor, with his debut Medicinal Wildlife Palaver (an anti-poaching action movie) produced in 2012.Liyong has published GREEN DOCTRINE, the “green poetry” part of his Uhuru Poetry Collection, in 2016; NOT ACCORDING TO TRADITION, a novel, in 2017; a Medicinal Wildlife research book and several academic papers online.
