Inclusive Teaching Strategies For Learners With Special Educational Needs

This publication is intended to foster inclusive education through the provision of appropriate inclusive teaching strategies. Teachers, school administrators and other educational stakeholders should know that, it is the right of every child to be in school and is eff ectively learning. It is therefore necessary for them to empower themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills in inclusive education in order to make necessary accommodation and modifi cation for learners with special educational needs. This book is published so as to provide educational stakeholders with the necessary inclusive teaching strategies that can be used to enhance eff ective inclusion of learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in the regular classroom or school. 

Umenjoh Vania Andoumbeni hails from Ngie, Momo Division in the North West Region of Cameroon. She is a passionate advocate for inclusive education, social inclusion, disability rights, gender justice and women empowerment.  She holds a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Buea - Cameroon. She is a holder of a First Degree in Women and Gender Studies with majors in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Buea in 2011.

Umenjoh Vania is currently the Vice National Coordinator of the Cameroon Inclusive Special Education Teachers’ training and Empowerment Programme (CISETTEP), and the principal of Special Educational Needs Teachers’ Training Institute Inclusive Bilingual Evening School (SENTTI-IBES) Yaoundé - Cameroon. She is the president of the Association for the Promotion of Gender and Disability Issues (APGDI) and a member of the Global Network of Compassioneers. She also leads the Gender Hub of Health Promotion Alliance Cameroon. She dispenses lectures in Sociology at Experiental Higher Institute of Science and Technology (EXHIST) Yaounde. Umenjoh Vania has published several articles on inclusive education and gender issues in local and international journals.
