Fundamentals of Grammar: An Indispensable Guide. .1 to Excellence English explains and illustrates the basic grammatical rules concerning parts of speech, phrases, clauses, sentences and sentence elements, and common problems of usage. The book defines the basic parts of speech and provides examples of their uses in sentences. Each unit builds on the information in the preceding unit. This is important, since understanding the relationship between parts of speech is crucial to students' knowledge of how these and written text work to create language. The book also covers the basic rules of punctuation and writing mechanics. It also illustrates how paragraphs are formed and developed.
