Through verses that echo pain, loss, resilience, hope, and the longing for peace, these voices rise from the void of silence to reclaim meaning. Nine years into the Anglophone crisis, lives continue to be lost. Echoes from a Deserted Homeland: Testimonies from the Margins of Memory where Absence Speaks, and Peace Responds curates 88 poems from 28 poets in English, French, and Pidgin, bearing witness to one of Cameroon’s most significant and devastating conflicts, and offering a poetic testimony to a homeland fractured, yet unforgotten.
“Through vivid imagery and quiet strength, this anthology offers a nuanced meditation on the Cameroon Anglophone war of self-determination. The collection stands as both witness and reflection, a testament to the enduring power of language in uncertain times.”
